Dr. Narasimha Das Undurti

Dr. Narasimha Das Undurti is a physician-scientist who has conducted translational research in cancer, diabetes mellitus, lupus, coronary heart disease, atherosclerosis, sepsis and radiation protection. His laboratory studies have led to a deeper understanding of the role of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) and their metabolism in several diseases, with significant potential for translation into new therapeutic strategies. He has been involved in clinical practice, research and teaching, with a primary focus on bringing laboratory findings to clinical applications. At present he is working on the development of essential fatty acids (EFAs) as potential drugs for cancer.
He holds five U.S. patents and has been awarded three patents in India as the sole inventor, with another five patents currently pending in India. He is the author of five books and has published four significant peer-reviewed research papers related to cancer. He has extensive professional experience and memberships and has served in several editorial roles, including Founding Editor and Editor-in-Chief of Lipids in Health and Disease from 2001 to 2022, Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Autism: Challenges and Solutions and Review Editor for Nutrition (Elsevier) among others.
He has received many honors and continues to earn great respect in the scientific community. His achievements reflect dedication, excellence and service. His contribution to science represents a remarkable blend of innovation and impact, advancing medical research and improving human health globally. His research in areas such as PUFAs and radiation-induced damage, bioactive lipids in diabetes mellitus, cancer, sepsis and rheumatology has significantly shaped modern biomedical sciences.
