Welcome to the ABFR-2020 Workshops!

Workshop-1: Biotech or Pharma! Skill-based career decisions.

This workshop focuses on practical skills needed for jobs in Biotech and Pharma industries. Often times job applicants are confused about what skills are required to get into the industry. There is a misnomer that same skill-set can be used for both Biotech and Pharma jobs which puts many people in a dilemma. By attending this workshop, you can get a clarity in what kind of practical skill-set is needed to go into the Biotech vs. Pharma industries. All are eligible to participate in this workshop. Please note: Participation in this workshop costs Rs. 500 per head in addition to the ABFR-2020 registration fee.

Workshop-2: Elements of Bioinformatics for beginners.

This workshop provides all the necessary basics of Bioinformatics especially for beginners. A lot of people are still confused about various aspects of Bioinformatics and loose golden job opportunities due to lack of proper understanding in this field. In order to provide a clarity for students and faculty, we designed this workshop so that a lot of questions can be answered hands-on. This workshop begins from the very basics and touches a few advanced topics such as applications of machine learning and artificial intelligence. All are eligible to participate in this workshop.

Please note: Participation in this workshop costs Rs. 500 per head in addition to the ABFR-2020 registration fee.

Workshop-3: DNA Sequencing: Basic Sanger sequencing to advanced NGS-based analytics.

This workshop is designed to provide basics of DNA sequencing methodology using the Sanger sequencing method and discuss the advanced methods such as next generation sequencing tools and related data analytics. The workshop will also focus on how and where these methods are applicable and how can they be utilized in the best way to come up with plausible biomedical solutions. Often times many students are confused about basic DNA sequencing and NGS technology and are unable to think about their applications properly. This workshop clarifies a lot of such confusions. All are eligible to participate in this workshop.

Please note: Participation in this workshop costs Rs. 500 per head in addition to the ABFR-2020 registration fee.

Workshop-4: CRISPR/Cas9-mediated genome editing to improve organic farming.

Organic farming has been gaining popularity in the light of healthy diet. However, excessive pesticide usage in the organic farming is defeating the purpose due to the challenges involved in organic farming with respect to the yield vs. profit. This leads to multiple ethical questions that are still unanswered. This workshop provides insights of the latest genome editing tools such as CRISPR/Cas9 applications that may eliminate the requirement for the usage of pesticides, especially in the organic farming thus, solving the unethical practices. All are eligible to participate in this workshop.

Please note: Participation in this workshop costs Rs. 500 per head in addition to the ABFR-2020 registration fee.
